Summer might be over, but you can still BBQ year-round! You can make it at home using ingredients that will bring out that smoky flavor or go for Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce’s new food line of refrigerated entrees. The line, known as “Travis Kelce’s Kitchen,” will be sold at Walmart. The football star isn’t stopping there. Kelce is making waves in the food world, tackling breakfast foods after trademarking his cereal brand, “Kelce Krunch,” earlier this week.
What is “Travis Kelce’s Kitchen?”
No, this has nothing to do with “seemingly ranch” but everything to do with BBQ. “Travis Kelce’s Kitchen” features seven different meal options with a Kansas City twist. Here are the entrees, available only at Walmart:
Bacon Mac & Cheese: Jumbo macaroni noodles in a cheddar cheese sauce with pieces of bacon mixed in.
BBQ Baked Beans with Burnt Ends: Baked black beans and white kidney beans with a smoky barbecue flavor, that has been sweetened with brown sugar, and accompanied with bacon and onions. On the side, Kansas City-style burnt ends.
BBQ Baked Beans with Sausage: Baked black beans and white kidney beans, topped with brown sugar, bacon and onions, paired with tender pork sausage.
Brisket Burnt Ends & BBQ Sauce: Cuts of brisket that have been slow-cooked and caramelized, then topped with a signature Kansas City BBQ sauce.
Brisket Burnt Ends with Mac & Cheese: Jumbo macaroni noodles in a cheddar cheese sauce, topped with charred beef brisket burnt ends.
Sausage and Meatball Marinara with Peppers and Onions: This dish is sliced pork sausage and pork and beef meatballs all topped with cheese, marinara sauce, bell peppers, and onions.
Sliced Brisket in BBQ Sauce: Sliced brisket topped with a traditional Kansas City-style BBQ sauce.
The pricing varies for the entrees, starting at $8.17 for the Sliced Pork Sausage BBQ Baked Beans and $12.78 for meals like the Sliced Brisket in BBQ Sauce and Burnt Ends & BBQ Sauce.
What about “Kelce Krunch” cereal?
On Tuesday, it was announced by trademark attorney Josh Gerben that Travis Kelce filed for five new trademarks — “Travis Kelce,” “Killatrav,” “Alright Nah,” “Flight 87,” and “Kelce's Krunch.”
The tight end trademarked his name, Instagram handle, catchphrase, and the name of his cereal “Kelce's Krunch.”
In August, Kelce partnered with food store chain Hy-Vee to exclusively sell his “Kelce Krunch” cereal, a sugar-frosted flake cereal. Portions of the proceeds went to his 87 & Running Foundation, an organization helping disadvantaged youth to strive for success by “providing resources and support to their communities and cultivating their talent in the areas of education, business, athletics, STEM, and the arts,” as stated on their website.
